“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
― Margaret Mead

What Can I donate?

Many different types of donations can be made. For example:

  • land or personal property (with or without retaining the right to use it for a specified amount of time);

  • one-time or monthly monetary gifts;

  • stocks, bonds, mutual funds;

  • life insurance;

  • charitable bequests.

By selecting the right type of gift, you can maximize your tax advantage and the estate planning benefits of your donation while helping SILT continue its vital role in conservation.

What will my donation be used for?

Monetary donations can be directed towards one or both of the following funds:

The Nature Legacy Fund provides a secure basis for SILT to act in a timely manner to acquire land. The Armstrong Family Foundation made a generous commitment to help establish the Legacy Fund, with a significant monthly gift over 5 years.

The Sustainability Fund allows SILT to care for the land it has acquired; to create educational resources about stewardship and Savary; and to offer activities that nurture a sense of place and connection for Savary Islanders now and into the future.
