Audrey Capel Doray (born 1931) is a Canadian artist working in a variety of mediums—painting, printmaking, electronic art, murals, and films. In addition to her solo and group exhibitions, her work was exhibited at the 6th Biennial Exhibition of Canadian Painting at the National Gallery of Canada in 1965. A serigraph Diamond is held in the Tate Gallery London and the National Gallery of Canada. Her work is described in North American Women Artists of the Twentieth Century as combining "robust social criticism with her own interpretation of humanist theory" and dealing with pop art and the feminist archetype, themes of "perpetual motion and endless transition", and the interplay of sound and light. What to do if you find a baby fawn on Savary Island
Do you know what to do if you find a baby fawn without its mom? It is likely healthy and waiting for its mom to get back from finding food. Here is some useful information from the BC SPCA: What to do if you find a deer fawn
June 2021 SILT Plant BioBlitz
We are excited to announce the June 2021 Savary Island Land Trust Plant BioBlitz. Please help us discover the plant biodiversity in Savary’s rare ecosystems.
How to participate:
Create an iNaturalist account
Join the SILT Plant BioBlitz Project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/silt-plant-bioblitz
Take a picture of a plant you find on Savary
Upload it as an observation on iNaturalist
Tips for using iNaturalist:
1. Disable ‘automatic upload’ to avoid using data
• Go to Settings and uncheck the box next to automatic upload
• When in a Wi-Fi zone, select upload under your observations
2. Make sure your GPS is on: It’s important for distribution data!
3. You don’t have to guess the species
• Choose the level of classification that you feel confident about
• Ex. order, family, genus, etc.
What we’ll do with the results:
Post them on SILT social media pages
Use BioBlitz data as a baseline to study the biodiversity of Savary Island’s rare ecosystems
Select observations to feature on future SILT merchandise
Rules:
1. What NOT to post as observations:
• Garden plants: try to get plants naturally growing on Savary.
• You’re BFF: try to avoid getting people in pictures.
2. No wild guesses when choosing an ID
• If all you know is that you have a picture of a tree, and iNat’s artificial intelligence isn’t helping with the ID, leave it as ‘tree’
• Other iNat users will review your observation and make suggestions.
3.Do not disturb: avoid touching or damaging the organisms you are photographing
